With multiple projects running simultaneously all over the world, we knew it was time to bring a project coordinator onboard to support our continuing expansion. Ashley Ravelo is a perfect – though somewhat unexpected – match for TechMDinc. Rather than coming up through the audio and video fields, she’s honed her skills through marketing, communications and managing a variety of creative processes.
Born and educated here in Southern California, Ashley was raised on the magic of Disneyland and the majesty of The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. As a child, she loved the sense of wonder inspired by the big exhibits and big ideas that were created in ways she could understand and interact with. She has a deep appreciation of the way every scent, sound, sight, and experience are purposefully mapped out at the best amusements.
After graduating from California State University, Los Angeles with a degree in communication studies, she took a little time to figure out what she wanted from a career. That process included a trip to the East Coast.
On a train travelling from Washington, D.C. to New York, after visiting another series of well-crafted experiences at the Smithsonian Institution, she reflected on her passion for immersive amusements and experiences. “I realized this is what I love and I needed to figure out how to do it,” she says.
Over the next year and a half she explored the themed entertainment industry, attended TEA events, and intentionally networked to find the right fit with us at TechMDinc.
Having worked as a copy editor, writer, creative coordinator, and production manager, she understands how many moving parts, carefully connected, can lead to an exceptional product. Here at TechMDinc, she sees her role as a sort of hub of information, making sure resources are well-managed, effective communication is taking place, and all the team members are working together.
“Being a part of creating these experiences is really exciting,” she says. Eventually, she’d like to become a producer to oversee entire projects from conception to release.
We’re glad to welcome her to the team and look forward to seeing how far her dreams and talent will take her.
