Ford Rouge Interactive Plant Tour

Bringing a Truck to Life

Since 1903, Ford has been an American icon, paving the way for large scale manufacturing of cars and an industrialized workforce. They charted new territory once again with their all military grade aluminum F150 pickup and wanted to share the magic behind the machine with 80 guests at a time as a part of their factory tour. TechMDinc’s task was to bring the truck alive and they did so by transforming the original theater into an immersive experience in which guests are cocooned in a Ford world. Guests are wowed when a scale model of an F150 pickup that appears to be created before their eyes thanks to the technical wizardry of TechMDinc and their collaborators.

The team wrapped seven large screens around the perimeter of the theater with multiple projectors that show heat maps, indicate motion and present the illusion of 3D printing and painting. They also choreographed two industrial robots, laser, fog, lights and a variety of other elements into the show and established a single show control system. With 3-4 shows per hour all day every day, the interface had to be both simple and fool proof in presenting a stunning visual and audio experience. TechMDinc delivered on all counts.
