Associate, AVC Systems Designer

Position Overview:
The Associate AVC Systems Designer supports the successful delivery of projects at TechMDinc by collaborating with system designers, engineers, and project managers. This role contributes to creating systems that not only meet technical and functional requirements but also bring our clients’ creative vision to life and tell their story. Leveraging resources from Design Documentation and Engineering, the Associate AVC Systems Designer helps develop, document, and deliver solutions that are innovative, elegant, transparent and built on a foundation of rigorous engineering standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

Audio, Video and Control Systems Design:
• Interface with Project Lead to understand project needs and requirements
• Assist with creation of design and engineering documentation such as wiring documents, block diagrams, location plans, mounting details, equipment schedules, technical narratives, operations and maintenance manuals with input from Engineering
• Work collaboratively with Design and CAD to populate BIM models with 3D Revit families
• Input equipment prices and specifications into custom database for creation of equipment lists and installed ROM budget reports
• Work collaboratively with Engineering to evaluate and specify the right equipment for right application
• Assist with creation of technical documentation for assembly, use, and maintenance of electronic systems
• Participate in client meetings and design reviews

Production and Integration:
• Update shop drawings and contribute to factory acceptance testing of project equipment
• Perform field installation and integration tasks under supervision
• Occasional installation of equipment and troubleshooting installation issues
• Equipment configuration, site acceptance testing, test and adjust
• Speaker tuning, video projection/display calibration
• Audio digital signal processing file development, show control programming
• Media installation and mix support
• Handle simple site engineering updates with support from engineering

Contribute to Client Warranty & Technical Support:
• Answer and respond to warranty and technical support inquiries
• Aid technical support staff in troubleshooting of installed attractions and experiences
• Aid technical support staff in troubleshooting of applied technologies and platforms

Process and Product Improvement:
• Contribute to development of company design, engineering and documentation standards
• Suggest ideas for process company-wide improvements
• Engage in ongoing education about new technologies, products, and systems

Other Responsibilities:
• Perform other responsibilities as defined by the TechMDinc Design & Engineering Teams
• Occasionally stoop or kneel to access AV equipment.
• Lift and load equipment (25–50 lbs) up to 4 feet high.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 3+ years experience in Audio, Video and Control Systems Design
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Theater Music or related field
• Detail-oriented with a concentrated focus on quality
• Proficiency in computer-aided drafting and modeling software: Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SketchUp
• Proficiency in project management and database management software: Wrike, Quickbase, MS Access
• Proficiency with video platforms: 7th Sense, Disguise, Pixera, BrightSign
• Proficiency with show control platforms: Q-SYS Designer, Alcorn McBride, AMX
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and client

Preferred Certifications:
• Q-SYS Level One
• Dante Level One
• BrightSign Academy

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $65,000–$80,000 per year, dependent on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated technical skills.
